The AGA-Africa Programme signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malawi Human Rights Commission on 16th August, 2023. The Programme was represented by Gift Caroline Chikwakwa, Country Coordinator for Malawi while the Commission’s Executive Secretary Habiba Osman represented the Malawi Human Rights Commission.
The signing that took place at the Bingu International Conference Centre, Lilongwe, Malawi, is part of the Programme’s commitment to eradicating transnational organised crime and upholding human rights. Additionally, it was aimed at merging expertise, resources and bolstering shared determination with the Programme’s stakeholders to facilitate an environment where the continent stands united in addressing human rights violations.
In her remarks, Habiba Osman, Executive Secretary, Malawi Human Rights Commission, noted that this was a journey towards long term partnership. She expressed gratitude to the Programme for recognizing the Commission’s role in the promotion and protection of human rights, including the fight against human trafficking.
On her part, Gift Caroline Chikwakwa, Country Coordinator for Malawi, affirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding would reinforce the Programme’s commitment to eradicating transnational organised crime and upholding human rights.
