The AGA-Africa Mentorship Exchange Programme and the Office of the Attorney General of the District of Columbia organized the second US Mentorship Programme in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions of Ghana for prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General of Ghana. The programme ran from 10th October-18th November 2022.

The exchange programme was aimed at exposing the mentees to departments and offices of the Federal and State Attorney General’s Office for benchmarking, capacity building and fostering relationships as well as gaining skills and knowledge from a different jurisdiction.

The mentees had the opportunity to interact with General Karl Racine, Attorney General of District Columbia – a staunch supporter of the AGA-Africa Programme.

The mentees were afforded the opportunity to experience the law as practiced in the District of Columbia and exchange ideas and knowledge in the course of the month.

Hon. Sean Wallace, Judge of the Circuit Court for the 7th Circuit of Maryland, who has participated in the AGA-Africa Programme as a subject matter expert for numerous trainings, also hosted the mentees at his court.

At the end of the Mentorship Programme, the mentees presented General Karl Racine with gifts as a token of appreciation for the learning opportunities, exposure as well as the new perspectives gained at the Attorney General’s Office and the overall experience.

AGA-Africa Programme seeks to establish and foster robust relationships with justice and law enforcement agencies and officials throughout Africa to support the rule of law and combat transnational criminal activity.
