AGA-Africa Programme’s International Advisor John Edozie and the Programme Director and Country Coordinator for Kenya, Chukukere Unamba-Oprah, represented the Programme’s leadership at the Train of Trainers Training workshop on 24th July- 4th August, 2023 where distinguished delegates converged at the Livingstone, Zambia.

The AGA-Africa Programme was proud to sponsor the five-day workshop in partnership with the Inter-Agency Collaboration and Coordination Framework in Zambia.

In his opening remarks, Chukukere Unamba-Oprah, AGA-Africa Programme Director and Country Coordinator for Kenya, expressed confidence in winning the fight against transnational crime. He urged delegates thus: “Walk forth with determination knowing we can combat organised crime, foster cooperation and create an impact that reverberates through generations.”

The workshop was officially opened by Gilbert Phiri SC, Director Public Prosecutions, National Prosecution Authority (NPA) and Chair, the Inter-Agency Collaboration and Coordination Framework delivered the keynote address.

The Framework, signed in January, 2023,  is aimed at building capacity across member agencies across the justice chain in working together to combat illicit financial flows to recover proceeds of crime.

The workshop brought together technical committee members of the Inter-Agency Coordination Framework and participants from the Attorney General’s Chambers, Zambia Police Service, Drug Enforcement Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission, Bank of Zambia, Financial Intelligence Centre, Department of Immigration, Ministry of Lands, Patents and Company Registration Agency, Zambia Revenue Authority, National Prosecution Authority, Road Transport and Safety Agency, Immigration, Department of National Parks and Wildlife, National Anti-Terrorism Centre and the Office of the President (Special Division).

The workshop sessions provided a platform for the participants to equip themselves with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to effectively prosecute anti-money laundering, asset forfeiture and corruption cases in Zambia.

 

 

Workshop Outcome

Through this workshop the participants:

  1. Expanded their ability to design and deliver trainings, including drawing up training and session plans, prepare course material and training packages;
  2. Enhanced their approaches and tools for the planning, coordination and implementation of training programmes;
  3. Built facilitation skills that foster participation in trainings by the members to ensure effective skills transfer.
